KAMPALA, Uganda — Almorie Nagayi has been crowned Miss Uganda 2026/27 after emerging the winner of the national beauty pageant held at Sheraton Gardens in Kampala on Saturday night, Oct. 10.
Nagayi, 19, represented Masaka City and the Central Region. She beat 21 other finalists to win the crown, succeeding Trivia Elle Muhoza, who held the title for the 2025/26 season.
Prudence Bridget Nakato finished as first runner up, while Lukia Balunywa was named second runner up. The competition brought together young women from different parts of the country to compete for the national title.
Nagayi is expected to represent Uganda at the Miss World 2027 competition, which is scheduled to take place in Tanzania in September next year. Her victory gives her an opportunity to promote Uganda on an international platform.
Beyond the pageant, the new queen is focusing on financial literacy and vocational training through her Beauty With a Purpose project. The initiative aims to equip young women and girls with money management skills and practical knowledge to help them become financially independent.
Nagayi has previous experience in beauty competitions. She won Miss Uganda High School before representing Uganda at Miss Teen International in India, giving her a foundation in pageantry before her latest national victory.
The 2026/27 competition also marked 15 years of the Miss Uganda Foundation, led by Brenda Nanyonjo. The foundation has used the pageant to promote women’s empowerment and encourage young women to take part in community development.
The grand finale featured performances by Abeeka Band, Grace Nakimera and Karole Kasita. The event was also broadcast on StarTimes’ Makula KiKa, allowing viewers who could not attend in person to follow the celebrations.
Nagayi’s reign now begins with expectations that she will use the title to advance her chosen cause while preparing for the international competition. Her financial literacy campaign places economic empowerment at the center of her work as Miss Uganda.
The Miss Uganda pageant is one of the country’s platforms for showcasing young women’s talents, leadership and community initiatives. Nagayi’s next challenge will be to turn her national victory into meaningful work at home as she prepares to represent Uganda abroad.
