Ugandan First Daughter Patience Rwabwogo to Be Consecrated Bishop

KAMPALA, Uganda — Pastor Patience Rwabwogo, the founder and senior pastor of Covenant Nations Church (CNC), is set to be consecrated as an Episcopal Bishop on August 23, 2026, in a landmark event that will coincide with the church’s 20th anniversary celebrations.

The consecration marks a significant milestone for both Covenant Nations Church and Uganda’s Pentecostal movement, reflecting the growing role of women in church leadership. The ceremony is expected to attract thousands of worshippers, senior government officials, and church leaders from Uganda and abroad.

Rwabwogo, the daughter of President Yoweri Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni, established Covenant Nations Church in Luzira two decades ago as a small house fellowship. Since then, the ministry has grown into an influential evangelical movement with a strong focus on biblical teaching, discipleship, youth empowerment, evangelism, and community transformation. Its outreach now extends beyond Uganda through regional and international ministry partnerships.

The consecration will be presided over by American evangelist Bishop Dr. LaDonna Osborne, a longtime friend of the ministry whose parents, Dr. T.L. Osborne and Daisy Osborne, held influential gospel crusades across Uganda during the 1980s. Bishop Osborne has worked closely with Rwabwogo in recent years, including during the 2025 Light Up Uganda for Jesus Gospel Convention, which concluded with a national prayer gathering attended by President Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni.

Several renowned international ministers are also expected to attend the ceremony, including Nigerian Pastor Enoch Adeboye and his wife, Pastor Folu Adeboye, whom Rwabwogo has often described as her spiritual mentors. Worship leaders from Israel are also expected to minister during the celebrations.

Over the years, Rwabwogo has become a prominent voice in Uganda’s evangelical community, advocating for ethical leadership, discipleship, and national transformation through faith. Beyond regular church services, Covenant Nations Church has expanded its ministry to include university fellowships, entrepreneurship initiatives, leadership development, and nationwide interdenominational gospel campaigns.

Speaking ahead of the consecration, Rwabwogo described the occasion as a testament to God’s faithfulness rather than a personal achievement. Reflecting on the church’s journey over the past 20 years, she said its growth had surpassed what the founding members could have imagined, drawing inspiration from Luke 1:37: “For nothing will be impossible with God.”

President Museveni has previously commended his daughter’s commitment to ministry, praising her dedication to evangelism and describing her work as an example of faithfully using one’s God given gifts to serve society.

The upcoming consecration has also drawn support from senior Christian leaders. Veteran Pentecostal leader Bishop Joshua Lwere has publicly affirmed Rwabwogo’s calling and ministry, describing her leadership as rooted in genuine service to God.

As preparations continue, the August 23 celebration is expected to be one of the year’s most significant Christian gatherings in Uganda, bringing together believers from different denominations to commemorate two decades of Covenant Nations Church and witness the consecration of one of the country’s most prominent evangelical leaders.
