KAMPALA, Uganda — Ugandan singer Irene Ntale has opened up about the emotional strain of wanting to become a mother while dealing with health challenges, saying hurtful comments about her childlessness have made an already difficult experience more painful.

Ntale shared an emotional message on TikTok in which she described the difficulty of wanting children but feeling that her body was not yet ready. The post was later removed, but its message continued to circulate online, drawing support from fans and fellow musicians.

“Life is so weird! You wake up one day, and you want to have kids, and then your body isn’t in position to do it for you just yet,” she wrote, describing her efforts to heal while dealing with what she called “chaos and storms.”

The singer also criticised people who shame women for not having children, saying some behave as though they have the authority to determine when others should become parents.

“People really assume the position of God! Wow! God hold me! Because tonight is exceptionally difficult,” she added.

Her message attracted an outpouring of encouragement, with musicians A Pass and Vivian Tendo among those who rallied around her with supportive messages and prayers. Fans also offered words of comfort, urging her to remain hopeful and reminding her that motherhood is not something that should be forced by public expectations.

The reaction has renewed conversations about the pressure married women face to have children, particularly those whose personal lives attract public attention. For Ntale, the issue is complicated by her recent medical history and the expectation from some fans that marriage should quickly be followed by motherhood.

In June 2026, the singer underwent an open abdominal myomectomy in Uganda to remove uterine fibroids. She later disclosed that doctors had removed 30 fibroids during the operation.

Fibroids are noncancerous growths that develop in or around the uterus. Depending on their size and location, they can cause symptoms such as heavy menstrual bleeding and pelvic pain, and in some cases may affect fertility.

In July, Ntale shared an update on her recovery, saying the first week after surgery had been particularly difficult because of gas pains. She later reported that she was healing well and gradually returning to her usual activities.

The operation came after the singer had spoken publicly about her desire to start a family. In earlier remarks, she acknowledged the questions and comments she had received from fans about having a baby, saying she was seriously considering pregnancy.

Ntale married businessman Vincent Kalibbala at Rubaga Cathedral in Kampala on Oct. 17, 2025, after a traditional introduction ceremony held in Kulambiro. The wedding brought together family members, friends and fellow entertainers to celebrate the couple’s union.

The couple marked their first wedding anniversary on Oct. 17, 2026, just a day before Ntale’s emotional message became a subject of public discussion. The anniversary came amid continued attention to her private journey toward motherhood.

Despite her public profile, Ntale has previously expressed a desire to keep her home and marriage private. In a November 2025 interview, she said she wanted clear boundaries around her home life and did not intend to turn her household into a space for social media content.

Her latest message has brought renewed attention to the difference between public curiosity and the private realities couples may face. While fans may view questions about children as ordinary conversation, such remarks can be painful for people dealing with health concerns, fertility challenges or personal decisions they have not chosen to share.

Ntale’s experience also highlights the need to approach reproductive health with sensitivity. Marriage does not guarantee immediate pregnancy, and a person’s medical circumstances cannot always be understood from the outside.

For now, the singer has not publicly provided further details about her current medical condition or any plans regarding pregnancy. Her message, however, has prompted supporters to rally around her and has put the spotlight on the emotional burden of judging women by whether they have children.

As messages of encouragement continue to circulate, the response from fans and fellow artists offers a reminder that support and compassion are more helpful than pressure when someone is facing a deeply personal struggle.
