Alebtong, Uganda – Authorities in Alebtong District are investigating a disturbing case of aggravated defilement reported on April 20, 2025, involving a 16-year-old student. The suspect, Erem Denish, a 39-year-old teacher at Akura Senior Secondary School, was arrested following a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother, Akello Anna, a 50-year-old resident of Agweng Village, Akura Parish.
Police spokesperson Okema stated that Erem allegedly misused his position to exploit the minor. Residing in a property rented from the victim’s uncle, he reportedly manipulated her into a romantic relationship, promising marriage. He frequently offered her rides to school on his motorcycle, cultivating her trust over time.
On March 24, 2025, during a football event at Abia Primary School, Erem is accused of following the victim and, around 6:00 PM, taking her to a secluded area on the school grounds, where he allegedly assaulted her without protection. The assault came to light on April 18, 2025, when a routine medical examination confirmed the victim was pregnant. She was suspended from school the next day and returned to her mother’s care, prompting Akello Anna to file a police report on April 20.
The case, formally registered as aggravated defilement, has been forwarded to the Central Police Station in Alebtong. Statements from the victim, her mother, and other witnesses have been documented, and a PF 3A medical examination report has been attached to the case file. The file awaits review by the Resident Chief State Attorney as investigations proceed.
The Alebtong community remains deeply concerned, with police committed to pursuing justice in this troubling matter.
