KAMPALA, Uganda – As the Kampala Capital City Authority moves to clear street vendors from roads and walkways, VINAStech, a Ugandan IT firm, has announced up to 60% discount on setting up online shops for traders seeking new ways to reach customers.
The offer comes at a time when thousands of vendors are being urged to relocate to markets or explore alternative trading models. VINAStech says digital commerce can help traders maintain sales, reduce operating costs and expand beyond foot traffic in the central business district.
Under the promotion, traders can get a professionally designed online shop at a significantly reduced cost. The package includes website design, product catalog setup, mobile friendly layout, basic search engine optimization, secure payment integration and guidance on delivery coordination.
In addition to the discounted setup, the company will provide free training on how to run and manage an online shop. The training will cover how to upload products, manage stock, set prices, respond to customer inquiries, process orders and use social media to drive traffic to the store.

Company representatives say the goal is to help small and medium traders adapt to changing business conditions. With more Ugandans using smartphones and mobile money services, online selling is becoming more practical for everyday goods including clothing, household items and food products that can be delivered locally.
VINAStech notes that an online shop allows traders to operate without the high costs of physical rent and reduces the risk of goods being confiscated during enforcement operations. It also gives businesses a permanent digital address that customers can access at any time.
The firm is encouraging vendors relocating to city markets, as well as arcade and shop owners, to consider combining physical stalls with online platforms to increase visibility and sales.
Interested traders can contact VINAStech for assessment and enrollment in the discounted program. The company says slots for the 60% discount and free training are limited as it aims to provide hands on support to each participating business.
As Kampala’s trade environment shifts, VINAStech says digital tools could offer a practical path for traders looking to remain competitive and resilient in a rapidly changing marketplace.
